Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1

Is Purpose Driven Living currently licensed?

Accepted Answer

Purpose Driven Living LLC is currently completing the process required to operate as a Michigan Adult Foster Care home. We are not yet licensed and are not currently accepting residents or providing licensed AFC services. We welcome general inquiries from families, guardians, case managers, support coordinators, and community partners as we prepare for future operations.

Question 2

What is Purpose Driven Living LLC?

Accepted Answer

Purpose Driven Living LLC is a Michigan Adult Foster Care (AFC) group home being established in Detroit. We are preparing to provide 24-hour residential care and support for adults with serious mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, aging adults, and young adults transitioning out of foster care. We are currently completing the licensing process and are not yet open.

Question 3

Where is Purpose Driven Living located?

Accepted Answer

Our home is located in Detroit, MI. We are rooted in the Detroit community and committed to serving the people who live here.

Question 4

When do you expect to open?

Accepted Answer

We are working through the licensing and preparation process and are not able to provide a specific opening date at this time. We will communicate our opening timeline as it becomes clear.

Question 5

What makes Purpose Driven Living different from other AFC homes?

Accepted Answer

We are building a home — not running a facility. Our approach is grounded in person-centered support. We believe every resident deserves dignity, belonging, and a genuine community. We invest in our staff and work collaboratively with each resident's full support team. Our mission is not just to provide a place to live — it is to help people thrive.

Question 6

Who does Purpose Driven Living plan to serve?

Accepted Answer

Our developing program is intended to serve adults age 18 and older, including adults with serious mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, aging adults, and certain young adults transitioning from foster care whose assessed needs are appropriate for the level of care and supervision our home is approved to provide. Each potential placement will be considered individually.

Question 7

Does having a diagnosis automatically qualify someone for placement?

Accepted Answer

No. A diagnosis, disability, age, or life circumstance alone does not determine whether Purpose Driven Living is the appropriate placement. Potential placements will be considered based on the individual's assessed needs, required level of care and supervision, preferences, safety considerations, compatibility with the home's program, available resources, and our ability to appropriately meet the person's needs.

Question 8

How many residents will you serve?

Accepted Answer

As a licensed Michigan Adult Foster Care home, we will serve a small number of residents in a true home environment. Specific capacity will be confirmed upon licensure. We intentionally maintain a small, home-like setting — not a large institutional program.

Question 9

Do you serve residents who need skilled nursing care?

Accepted Answer

No. Adult Foster Care homes provide personal care, supervision, and daily living support — not skilled nursing or inpatient psychiatric care. Residents who require skilled nursing, intensive medical care, or inpatient psychiatric treatment would need a different level of care.

Question 10

What services will you provide?

Accepted Answer

Planned support may include assistance with daily living activities, personal care, household routines, medication-related support, community participation, skill development, appointment-related support, and other individualized assistance appropriate to the resident's assessed needs and the home's approved program. Specific services will depend on each individual's needs and Purpose Driven Living's approved scope of services.

Question 11

Will staff be available around the clock?

Accepted Answer

Purpose Driven Living is developing its staffing plan to provide appropriate supervision and support based on resident needs and applicable Adult Foster Care requirements. Specific staffing arrangements will be established as part of our approved operations.

Question 12

Do you provide medical or nursing care?

Accepted Answer

Purpose Driven Living is being developed as an Adult Foster Care home, not a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Our staff will provide residential support within their authorized roles and training. Medical, nursing, therapy, and other clinical services will be provided by appropriately qualified outside healthcare professionals when applicable.

Question 13

Will you assist with medications?

Accepted Answer

Medication-related assistance will be provided in accordance with applicable requirements, staff training, physician or authorized prescriber instructions, resident needs, and Purpose Driven Living policies and procedures. Purpose Driven Living staff will not independently prescribe medications or make clinical medication decisions.

Question 14

Do you provide transportation?

Accepted Answer

Purpose Driven Living will help residents access appropriate transportation resources based on their individual needs, plans, available resources, and services. Transportation may involve community transportation, public transit, rideshare services, transportation programs, or other appropriate arrangements.

Question 15

Do residents participate in community activities?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Community integration is an important part of our philosophy. Residents will be encouraged to participate in meaningful community activities based on their interests, preferences, abilities, goals, available opportunities, and individual plans.

Question 16

Can residents maintain relationships with family and friends?

Accepted Answer

We believe meaningful relationships and natural support systems are important to quality of life. Residents will be encouraged to maintain appropriate relationships with family, friends, and other important people in their lives consistent with individual preferences, rights, safety considerations, and applicable policies.

Question 17

Are you currently accepting referrals?

Accepted Answer

We are not currently accepting residents for placement while completing the requirements necessary for AFC operations. However, families, guardians, case managers, support coordinators, and community organizations are welcome to contact us with general inquiries and to learn more about our developing program.

Question 18

Do you accept Medicaid?

Accepted Answer

Funding and payment arrangements will depend on the individual's circumstances, applicable authorizations, available programs, and Purpose Driven Living's future provider agreements. Additional information regarding accepted funding sources will be provided as our licensing and provider enrollment processes are completed.

Question 19

Are you a DWIHN provider?

Accepted Answer

Purpose Driven Living is currently exploring and pursuing appropriate community partnerships and provider enrollment opportunities as we prepare for future operations. Information regarding approved provider relationships will be updated as those processes are completed.

Question 20

How can I learn more about a future placement?

Accepted Answer

Question 21

Can a family member or guardian reach out directly?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Families and legal guardians are welcome to reach out directly. You do not need to go through a case manager or agency to inquire about our program.

Question 22

What information do you need to evaluate a potential placement?

Accepted Answer

At the initial inquiry stage, a general description of the individual's situation and needs is sufficient. Please do not share sensitive personal health information through the general website contact form. After initial contact, we will request relevant information through appropriate channels and with proper consent.

Question 23

What happens if Purpose Driven Living is not the right fit?

Accepted Answer

We will communicate clearly if we are not the right fit for a particular individual. We are committed to being a helpful partner in the broader care community — not just to the people we serve directly.

Question 24

What does daily life look like for residents?

Accepted Answer

Daily life at Purpose Driven Living will be structured but flexible, built around each resident's individual support plan and personal goals. Residents will receive assistance with activities of daily living, participate in community activities, maintain connections with family and friends, and be supported in pursuing meaningful routines. We emphasize dignity, choice, and community integration in everything we do.

Question 25

Will residents have their own space?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each resident will have their own bedroom and will be treated as a full member of the household. We are intentional about creating a home environment — not an institutional one.

Question 26

How will you involve families and support teams?

Accepted Answer

We believe family members, guardians, and authorized members of the support team are important partners in each resident's care. We will work collaboratively with support teams, participate in person-centered planning, and maintain open communication consistent with each resident's preferences and applicable privacy requirements.

Accepted Answer

Future opportunities may include Direct Care Staff / Direct Support Professionals, Lead / Senior Direct Care Staff, and Administrative & Operational Support roles. Additional opportunities may become available as Purpose Driven Living grows.
